How does laser hair removal work?A beam of light passes through the skin to the intended target. The target for hair removal is the melanin, present in all hair follicles. The melanin absorbs this light, disabling or impeding the hair’s regrowth.
-
Does laser hair removal work on all hair?Laser hair removal works on both facial and body hair, including large areas like the legs & back. The laser targets the dark pigment present in some hairs but is not effective on blonde, white, grey or extremely fine hair.
-
Can you get laser done whilst pregnant?Laser hair removal is safe but there are no long-term studies that analyse the effects of laser hair removal on unborn children. For this reason, we will refuse treatment. If you have had one treatment and later found out you were pregnant you have nothing to worry about. Your sessions are saved until you come back.
-
How many treatments are needed?Facial/body hair is treated once every 4-6 weeks. We recommend a course of 6-12 treatments, but it could be more as this varies from person to person, until you see a satisfactory result. You will need maintenance sessions once or twice annually. Individual results vary and this will be discussed on your consultation appointment.

Can laser hair removal reduce ingrown hairs? It certainly can! We are experts in diminishing ingrowing hairs and have worked on many cases. Ingrown hair commonly shows up in areas of the body that have been shaved or waxed. They’re caused when the hair is broken off unevenly with a sharp tip. With laser hair removal, clients have less of a chance of getting ingrown hair because they are not shaving or waxing. The change in hair texture reduces the chance of having ingrown hairs even more. We get to the ‘root’ of the problem literally!
-
I’ve had a patch test in another clinic, why do I need another one?Besides having a patch test being a legal requirement, a consultation is important because it helps put you at ease. Laser is a long process and can last over 12 months. It is important you understand what to expect through your laser journey. One size does not fit all and we would like to learn more about your skin history, medical background, and skin type to determine your treatment plan. Some people may feel nervous or even embarrassed so you get the sense of how we do things at Queens laser. Our consultations are just a friendly chat with no pushy sales jargon! We don’t ask you to sign any deals Etc. We simply give you information and then allow you the time you need to decide.
-
Will shaving my hair make it thicker? Many people think that shaving causes your hair to grow back thicker. This is false. It’s biologically impossible for hair to grow back thicker because of shaving. If this was true, we would all have lovely thick head hair and hair transplants would not be so popular! Shaving hair will not change its thickness or colour.
-
What are the possible side effects? Most common side effects of laser hair removal include skin irritation, temporary discomfort, redness and swelling. Any signs and symptoms typically disappear within several hours.
-
Is laser hair removal uncomfortable or even painful? You may experience a small but manageable sensation that we describe as a pinch or a zap when we pulse the laser. Most of our clients who previously received waxing report that the discomfort is less when using laser hair removal treatments. We have cooling devices to cool the skin to help reduce discomfort.
-
Is laser hair removal considered permanent?Laser hair removal is permanent hair reduction. Laser hair removal is the most effective way to have long term hair reduction and is permanent as it gets. Usually if there is no regrowth, this is considered a permanent result. You should achieve about 75% – 95 or more of hair reduction. If something changes hormonally or medically, this may alter the results of your laser hair removal.
-
How many sessions are needed? On average 3-6 sessions are needed, however our therapist will have a thorough consultation to examine your skin and discuss tailored treatment plan with you.

This action alone triggers a healing response to help scars, marks, and blemishes. It also creates channels to administer active ingredients for other concerns.
-
What skin care products do you use with micro-needling?We recommend our clients to use pharmaceutical brands alongside microneedling as they are medical grade products. Our therapist will prescribe you with a tailored treatment plan and suggest the pre and post products depending on your skin concern.
